Arsenio: A Memoir

We hope Arsenio acknowledges his significant contribution to the ongoing growth of Hip Hop Culture. If he fails to mention it, we’ll simply state it now. Thank you, Arsenio Hall, for believing in Hip Hop, especially during a time when many mainstream outlets dismissed the Artform, as quoted by the legendary KRS-One, “A passing fad or a phase with a rope!”

Arsenio recognized and courageously provided a platform for us to express our art and reach millions of people worldwide!
Arsenio Hall will tell the story of his life and career in a memoir.

Atria/Black Privilege will publish the entertainer’s Arsenio: A Memoir next spring. In the book, the publisher says, Hall “reveals the ups and downs of his remarkable career as a trailblazing pioneer with this behind-the-scenes, star-studded, no-holds-barred memoir of celebrity, race, and show business.”

Hall worked as a stand-up comedian and actor before launching The Arsenio Hall Show in 1989. The syndicated late-night talk show quickly became a hit with younger viewers and a pop culture phenomenon, drawing guests such as Eddie Murphy, Paula Abdul, and Bill Clinton. Clinton, at the time governor of Arkansas and a presidential candidate, memorably wore sunglasses and played a rendition of “Heartbreak Hotel” on saxophone.

The show was canceled in 1994 and brought back to the air in 2013, running for less than a year. Since then, Hall has appeared in films including Coming 2 America and television series such as The Mayor and All About the Washingtons.

“This bracingly candid memoir offers a new appreciation for this raw talent and gifted storyteller, who nightly, for six years, hosted what felt like a televised ‘party’ that changed the landscape of late-night television and brought Black culture into living rooms across America,” Atria/Black Privilege says of the memoir.

Arsenio is slated for publication on April 7, 2026.

MAYOR RAS J. BARAKA STATEMENTok ON PASSING OF JESSE JACKSON

“I was still a teenager when Jessie Jackson set out on his historic journey to become president. He lifted the hopes and dreams of many Americans and stood tall for Black people everywhere. Without his trailblazing there would be no President Barack Obama.

“Jesse’s life altered history and left us a lasting legacy. He shouted, marched, strategized, organized, and inspired throughout the civil rights movement. His impact will forever be felt. But most importantly, he was a friend to my father and our family. I will always remember their rallying cry, ‘It’s Nation Time!”

REV. SHARPTON ON THE PASSING OF HIS MENTOR REV. JESSE LOUIS JACKSON

New York, NY (February 17, 2026) –

Today, I lost the man who first called me into purpose when I was just twelve years old. And our nation lost one of its greatest moral voices.

The Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson was not simply a civil rights leader; he was a movement unto himself. He carried history in his footsteps and hope in his voice. One of the greatest honors of my life was learning at his side. He reminded me that faith without action is just noise. He taught me that protest must have purpose, that faith must have feet, and that justice is not seasonal, it is daily work.

In 1969, when I was still a teenager trying to find my place in this struggle, Rev. Jackson appointed me youth director of the Brooklyn branch of Operation Breadbasket, the economic arm of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference founded by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

He trusted me with responsibility and saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself. That is the measure of a true mentor: they do not just teach you; they name you.

He later named the headquarters of National Action Network “The House of Justice,” a reminder that movements must be anchored in moral purpose.

Through Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, he expanded the political imagination of this nation. He ran for President not because it was easy, but because he believed America could be better than its history. In doing so, he opened doors that many of us, me included, who followed in his footsteps and ran for President.

But to me, he was more than a public figure. He was Godfather to my two daughters. He prayed over them as infants. He spoke life into them as young girls.

We stood in his home not as a headline, but as family. He taught them, and me, that trying is as important as triumph. That you do not wait for the dream to come true; you work to make it real. Because of him, I learned that leadership is not about being seen, it is about seeing others. Because of him, I learned that our lives mean the most when they are spent widening the circle of who belongs.

Reverend Jackson stood wherever dignity was under attack, from apartheid abroad to injustice at home. His voice echoed in boardrooms and in jail cells. His presence shifted rooms. His faith never wavered.

Today, I grieve not only a leader, but the steady voice that guided me when the road was uncertain. I am heartbroken. But I am eternally grateful that God allowed me to walk beside a man who helped bend the arc of history and shaped the arc of my own life.

Today we mourn. But we do not retreat. We pray for the Jackson family to carry the torch. The greatest way to honor Reverend Jesse Jackson is not in memory alone, but in movement. He taught us to keep marching. He taught us to keep organizing. He taught us that justice is never given, it is demanded.

Rest now, Reverend Jackson. I love you.

SOUL in POWER

Studio: Prime Video
Release: 2/12/26

Legends Common and Dr. J team up for a new Prime Docu-Series.

Soul Power showcases how a bold, short-lived league permanently reshaped professional basketball, player empowerment, and American sports culture.

Told through the voices of legends, cultural leaders, and historians, the series argues that modern basketball looks the way it does because the ABA existed.

Soul Power, the definitive story and inaugural docuseries of the American Basketball Association (ABA), chronicles the league’s 1967 inception.

It delves into how a collection of franchises, predominantly relocated or folded, challenged the NBA both on and off the court for nine captivating seasons.

The series also examines the enduring impact of the ABA on basketball, including the introduction of the 3-point shot, the All-Star Game slam dunk competition, the inclusion of former ABA franchises like the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, the empowerment of women in sports business, and the rise of superstar players and contributors like Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Spencer Haywood, George Gervin, Rick Barry, and George Karl.

In 2026, the ABA will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the merger with the NBA.

Relationship Goals

Studio: Prime Video
Release: 2/4/26

Whenever we consider content for our featured artist section or any placement on our Network, we always prioritize work that the Hip Hop generation would approve of. This policy often leads us to explore various genres within the Entertainment realm.

We’ve found content from the world of Sports, Rock Music, Hip Hop, Gospel, Tech, Film/Television, publishing, Yacht, and soft rock, as well as politics….well you get the picture.

Our latest feature, “Relationships Goals,” features two iconic artists from Hip Hop and R&B: Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) and Method Man (Wu Tang Clan). This feature covers three categories: Music, Film, and Television.

Now, let me talk about both artists. I’m not sure who or where they trained in acting, but their skill in many of their screen projects is truly mesmerizing.

I was already sold on Kelly. In fact, I’d love to see her portray a music icon that we all know and love in a biopic. I’ll keep the details for proprietary reasons, but I’ll check in with her when I see her in person.

As for Method Man, I knew he had acting potential from his early music videos and films like “How High,” “Soul Plane,” “Peppermint,” and “The Wire.” But it was his role as Davis Maclean in “Power Book II: Ghost” that truly solidified my belief that Meth is an official actor.

Kelly and Method Man have amassed a diverse portfolio of film, television, and music projects. However, I believe we can all agree that they possess that unique “it” factor—the special magic that the industry thrives on. This is precisely what you’ll experience when you watch them in “Relationship Goals.”

The film follows TV producer Leah Caldwell as she sets out to become the first woman to host New York’s top morning show. Her ex-boyfriend, Jarrett Roy, also throws his hat in the ring for the same role.

Jarrett claims to have been transformed by the book “Relationship Goals,” which becomes a central theme as Leah’s friends delve into its wisdom as well. Despite her unwavering focus on her career, Leah’s life takes an unexpected turn when she develops a romantic connection with her ex, challenging her priorities and forcing her to confront her own personal growth.
