GRAMMY-Winning Singer, Songwriter & Rap Legend Everlast Drops New Single “Stones”

GRAMMY-winning Irish-American rapper, singer & songwriter Everlast returns today with a powerful new single, “Stones” – his inaugural release with Thirty Tigers, in partnership with Regime Music Group. Produced by Yelawolf, more on an upcoming project will be revealed soon. Tomorrow on March 14, Everlast will join syndicated radio show Skratch N Sniff for its St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl Mix, featuring a special mix of his extensive catalogue. This fall, Everlast will also perform at Oceans Calling Festival on September 25 in Ocean City, MD.

“Stones’ is a song about culpability and regret. A journey from self loathing to self healing and forgiveness,” Everlast says. Raw, reflective, and deeply personal, the song marks the first glimpse into this next chapter, a bold step forward that balances vulnerability with resilience. Like his empathy anthem of the past 20 years, “What It’s Like,” it’s yet another example of Everlast seamlessly weaving the thread that connects all walks of life through the shared, everyday realities we each experience – no matter who we are or where we come from.

Everlast also recently shared a clip of “Rubber Bullets” from the new album, written while watching the George Floyd protests, as well as the standalone single and anti-ICE anthem “Blood on the Wheel” with multi-platinum producer WLPWR (“every revolution needs a soundtrack”- Jolly Good Ginger).

You can call him Everlast, Whitey Ford or even Erik Francis Schrody, but by any name, this singer-songwriter-rap legend’s remarkable music career has seen him reinvent himself several times over. From his first solo album, Forever Everlasting, under the auspices of Ice-T’s Rhyme Syndicate when he was barely out of his teens, to the “Jump Around” success with House of Pain, the genre-bending multi-platinum Whitey Ford Sings the Blues and his GRAMMY-winning contribution to Carlos Santana’s Supernatural album (“Put Your Lights On”), plus an Emmy nomination for the Saving Grace theme, Everlast has forged a groundbreaking merger of hip-hop, rock, folk, funk and R&B – influencing everyone from Yelawolf to Jelly Roll and beyond, even if he’s too modest to say it himself.

Obama Presidential Center Announces Grand Opening Celebrations: June 18-21

The Obama Foundation announced that the Obama Presidential Center’s grand opening celebrations will begin on June 18 and last through June 21, with a series of events that bring together the changemakers, community members, volunteers, and supporters who made the Obama presidency a reality and that welcome visitors to celebrate the power of hope and change.

• June 18: Dedication Ceremony on the John Lewis Plaza, with global livestream featuring legendary performances by global icons and powerful remarks from today’s most prominent voices

• June 19: Campus and Museum Open to the Public

• June 20 and 21: Community Celebrations Throughout Campus

President Obama shared the announcement this morning in a video on social media and the Foundation will celebrate in person tonight with hundreds of community members.

He says: “It is easy to look around right now and feel like the challenges we face are simply too big. But hope is not about ignoring the hard stuff. It is that thing inside us that insists something better awaits if we are willing to work for it. Here on the South Side of Chicago, hope is getting a permanent home. Starting on June 19, you can visit the Obama Presidential Center. This is not a monument to the past; it is a living destination for people who refuse to accept the status quo. If you feel that way, this is your invitation to join us.”

This day, March 7, holds special meaning as the anniversary of the civil rights marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. President Obama marked the 50th anniversary of the marches in one of his most cherished speeches, with the resounding call to advance the “glorious task we are given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.” Those very words are inscribed on the Museum building’s exterior, starting with “You Are America.”

The same instinct animates changemakers across the globe and is central to the Foundation’s mission to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world.

“We have always believed in the power of ordinary people to come together to make extraordinary change,” said Valerie Jarrett, Foundation CEO. “The opening of the Obama Presidential Center will be a beacon of hope to the world and a place where we hope guests will be inspired to bring change home to their communities.”

The Center will be dedicated on Thursday, June 18, and the campus, including all free areas as well as the Museum, will open to the public on June 19. Grand opening celebrations will continue on June 20 and 21 with live performances, family-friendly activities, food, art, and storytelling across campus. The public events will be preceded by gatherings for alumni, community members, supporters and young people.

The majority of the Presidential Center is free and open to the public. Amenities will include:

• an accessible and innovative playground

• a Forum building for public programming

• public art installations

• beautifully landscaped park space and walkways that will connect the Center to the Museum of Science and Industry and adjacent lagoons

• a branch of the Chicago Public Library.

Tickets to the Center’s Museum will be available this May, and pricing will be in line with other Chicago cultural institutions. Museum entry will require a timed ticket, but other areas of the 19.3 acre campus are free and accessible.

More details on the globally livestreamed dedication ceremony and free public festival will be released closer to the events. Those who want to be the first to receive information are invited to sign up at Obama.org.

“This grand opening is just the beginning,” added Jarrett. “The Obama Presidential Center is about the everyday people who make our democracy work, not just those we see in the headlines. As President Obama said: It is easy to look around right now and feel like the challenges we face are simply too big. But hope is not about ignoring the hard stuff. It is that thing inside us that insists something better awaits if we are willing to work for it. That is the spirit of the Obama Presidential Center. We can’t wait to welcome people this June.”

MAYOR RAS J. BARAKA SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER RESTRICTING ICE ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS

City employees required to report observations of unconstitutional ICE activity

Newark, NJ – February 26, 2026 — Mayor Ras J. Baraka signed an executive order restricting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from using city-owned property, facilities or resources for unconstitutional civil immigration enforcement actions.

The signing took place last night at the City’s 38th Annual Sing in Praise of King event dedicated to honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The executive order outlines key prohibitions that ban the staging of ICE operations on city property, and entering city buildings without a legitimate government purpose or necessary judicial warrant or judicial order. The order also requires city employees to report to their department director any observed unconstitutional wrongdoing by ICE agents within city limits. Department directors are to enter information reported on the state portal established for that purpose by Governor Mikie Sherrill. It further strengthens a 2017 executive order establishing Newark as a Welcoming City with language that prohibits its police division from cooperating with federal immigration authorities in any form whatsoever.

Before introducing the evening’s keynote speaker, acclaimed civil rights attorney Ben Crump, Mayor Baraka explained why this executive order was so relevant to the City of Newark. In a city built by and home to immigrants, he noted that there would be no 14th Amendment to the Constitution and due process were it not for enslaved ancestors of Newark’s Black Americans.

“This executive order says that ICE cannot use our space to stage operations to promote the catching and detaining of other human beings – because no human being is illegal. We’re not slave catchers,” Mayor Baraka said.

Also signing the order was City Corporation Counsel Kenyatta Stewart.

“We are in line with the Governor’s executive order and we go a step further to encourage employees who find themselves in the middle of an ICE operation, to observe from a safe distance and then report the incident to their department director, who in turn will enter it into the state’s portal.”

The executive order took effect immediately upon signing.

Arsenio: A Memoir

We hope Arsenio acknowledges his significant contribution to the ongoing growth of Hip Hop Culture. If he fails to mention it, we’ll simply state it now. Thank you, Arsenio Hall, for believing in Hip Hop, especially during a time when many mainstream outlets dismissed the Artform, as quoted by the legendary KRS-One, “A passing fad or a phase with a rope!”

Arsenio recognized and courageously provided a platform for us to express our art and reach millions of people worldwide!
Arsenio Hall will tell the story of his life and career in a memoir.

Atria/Black Privilege will publish the entertainer’s Arsenio: A Memoir next spring. In the book, the publisher says, Hall “reveals the ups and downs of his remarkable career as a trailblazing pioneer with this behind-the-scenes, star-studded, no-holds-barred memoir of celebrity, race, and show business.”

Hall worked as a stand-up comedian and actor before launching The Arsenio Hall Show in 1989. The syndicated late-night talk show quickly became a hit with younger viewers and a pop culture phenomenon, drawing guests such as Eddie Murphy, Paula Abdul, and Bill Clinton. Clinton, at the time governor of Arkansas and a presidential candidate, memorably wore sunglasses and played a rendition of “Heartbreak Hotel” on saxophone.

The show was canceled in 1994 and brought back to the air in 2013, running for less than a year. Since then, Hall has appeared in films including Coming 2 America and television series such as The Mayor and All About the Washingtons.

“This bracingly candid memoir offers a new appreciation for this raw talent and gifted storyteller, who nightly, for six years, hosted what felt like a televised ‘party’ that changed the landscape of late-night television and brought Black culture into living rooms across America,” Atria/Black Privilege says of the memoir.

Arsenio is slated for publication on April 7, 2026.

MAYOR RAS J. BARAKA STATEMENTok ON PASSING OF JESSE JACKSON

“I was still a teenager when Jessie Jackson set out on his historic journey to become president. He lifted the hopes and dreams of many Americans and stood tall for Black people everywhere. Without his trailblazing there would be no President Barack Obama.

“Jesse’s life altered history and left us a lasting legacy. He shouted, marched, strategized, organized, and inspired throughout the civil rights movement. His impact will forever be felt. But most importantly, he was a friend to my father and our family. I will always remember their rallying cry, ‘It’s Nation Time!”
